The G-d and Government Mix

The Freedom from Religion Foundation took out an ad in the New York Times today for the National Day of Prayer. They claim: “God and Government: A Dangerous Mix.” Actually, history proves that the opposite is true.
Atheism/secularism and government is the dangerous mix, and the death toll racked up by the 20th century despots is proof. It’s the denial of G-d’s existence that freed these tyrants to carry out their evil ambitions because they weren’t accountable to God.
Our Founders didn’t believe this, in fact they believed the opposite. The Constitution doesn’t ban God from the mix, it bans state religion. The Founders virtually all believed that G-d existed and was a necessary restraint for good government. In fact, the God and government mix is laid down in the founding document for our country, the Declaration of Independence:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights….
Government is accountable to G-d, and it is this foundation that grounds our rights and holds our government accountable to protect them rather than violate them.
G-d and government is a good mix.
